Royana National Festival
According to the public relations report of Royan Institute, the memorandum of understanding for holding the Royana Student Scientific Festival in the fields of Biological Sciences and Applied Technologies was signed by the parties, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Education, the Deputy Minister of Education and Entrepreneurship of Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research and the Head of Royan Institute, on July 5, 2023.
Dr. Abdolhossein Shahvardi, head of Royan Institute, considered the purpose of holding this festival to fulfil the long-term goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and he pointed out that Royan Institute will do its best so that the practical results of this Research Institute are transparently communicated to the public, he added that the Royana Festival is a long-term investment for educating the future generation and making students interested in the field of Biology.
In addition, Dr. Mohammad Kazemi Ashtiani, a member of the academic staff and the scientific secretary of the first Royana National Festival, mentioned: the fruits of research in biotechnology should be given to students, and there is a need to identify the students' point of view in this national field.Students acquire technical skills during the festival, along with research and available tools; Today, the university is far from the school and we are looking for a connection between these two groups.
He presented the goals of this festival as follows: forming research institutes, guiding the custodian of research institutes agencies, Developing Questioning Skills, and self-learning processes and increasing the efficiency of students are among the most important goals, and universities and scientific centers have the same identity in the world. The events and festivals that are held should involve Royan so that students get to know Royan's approach.
Ashtiani emphasized that students' daily questions should be Problem-Based Learning. He stated: The idea must be created and recreated on a student scale. Also, a mentor is placed in the training environment and selected after presenting their ideas and judging the chosen ones. Our goal is to sustain the distinguished researcher after the selection and to fill their minds with hope and ideas. Promoting culture and perspective in student research is one of the other goals of the Royana National Festival.
In the continuation of this ceremony, the deputy of secondary education of the Ministry of Education expressed his satisfaction with the follow-up of the Royana Festival and said: Shahid Kazemi Ashtiani was a scientist with high thoughts and always tried to implement scientific research programs. He said: If we want to reform the country, we must pay special attention to the education system. In this regard, this fundamental document has been drawn up to train creative and innovative students.
He declared: Festivals are held in order to identify elites and selected students are honoured, but supporting and guiding the chosen students towards appropriate fields and nurturing talents is more important than identifying them.
After that, Dr. Mohammad Mohsen Ghafourian, the Deputy Minister of Education and Entrepreneurship of the Academic Center for Education, Culture, also expressed: Holding this magnificent festival requires a lot of energy and capable and idea-generating youth to provide opportunities for the academic advancement of students that fortunately, both exist in Royan Institute and as an academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, we welcome such scientific-educational and promotional activities for the prosperity of the future generation of the system and revolution.
In the end, the memorandum of cooperation for holding the Royana festival was signed by the parties in the presence of professors in the field of Reproductive Medicine, Stem Cells and Biotechnology, Representative of the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, Public relations of organizations, Health Benefactors.
