The Cryobiology Symposium: An Opportunity to Present the Latest Scientific and Research Achievements

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Office of the Royan Institute, the 8th Symposium on Cryobiology, titled "Applied CryoBioEngineering," was held with a novel and interdisciplinary approach.
At this scientific event, Dr. Abdolhossein Shahverdi, Head of the Royan Institute, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of research in the field of cryobiology.
He noted that cryopreservation has now expanded beyond preservation to include diagnosis and treatment, addressing many societal challenges. He further explained that cryobiology is a science dedicated to research and services in biology and freezing. Researchers have long aspired to preserve the genetic resources on Earth through freezing methods, enabling future advancements in other fields of knowledge to bring their visionary goals to fruition through new scientific developments.
Focus on the Applied Aspects of CryoBioEngineering
Dr. Somayeh Tavana, a faculty member of the Embryology Research Group at the Royan Institute and the Scientific Secretary of the symposium, honored the memory of the late Dr. Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani, the founder of the Royan Institute. She stated that the goal of this symposium was to make scientific findings more applicable and to advance technologies related to cryobiology.
Dr. Tavana further emphasized that the symposium, with its focus on the applied aspects of cryobioengineering, provided a unique opportunity to update knowledge and exchange experiences in emerging fields such as microchips, nanotechnology, and tissue engineering. She expressed hope that the new platforms and untapped potentials in this field would enhance the efficiency and quality of storing reproductive samples and preserving fertility for patients.
This symposium, which offered a valuable opportunity to present the latest scientific and research achievements and to facilitate knowledge exchange among domestic and international experts, hosted prominent researchers such as Dr. Majid Varkiani from the University of Sydney, Australia; Dr. Hossein Ravanbakhsh from the University of Akron, USA; and Dr. Shadab Bagheri from the University of South Australia.
In addition to the Royan Institute, numerous scientific institutions collaborated in organizing this symposium, including Amirkabir University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, and Tabriz University of Medical Sciences.
