Press Conference For The 4th International Congress of West Asia and North Africa (WANA)

The 4th International Congress of West Asia and North Africa (WANA) will be held in May 2025 on the island of Kish, focusing on regenerative medicine and stem cells. The main goal of this congress is to strengthen Iran’s scientific authority in the region. In a press conference about the congress, Dr. Abdolhossein Shahvardi, President of Royan Institute, emphasized that after three decades of activity in this field, Iran needs to increase its scientific cooperation with regional countries. He also stressed the importance of creating a scientific network in the region to enhance research and treatment in stem cells and regenerative medicine.
The congress will cover topics such as advanced gene therapy, tissue engineering in regenerative medicine, stem cell therapy, gene therapy in regenerative medicine, and artificial intelligence in these fields. It will also serve as an opportunity to showcase the latest global advancements in regenerative medicine and stem cells.
In this regard, Royan Institute has signed 51 contracts and memorandums of understanding with countries such as France, Germany, and Cyprus. Iran holds a leading position in stem cell research and advanced treatments like gene therapy and stem cell therapy in the region, and competes globally with advanced countries such as France and Germany.
In addition to the scientific lectures, the congress will offer specialized educational courses in various fields, including stem cell therapy, tissue and cell engineering, and modern veterinary science. This congress will provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen scientific and research ties among the countries of West Asia and North Africa, positioning Iran as a scientific reference in these fields.
