The First WANA Congress
The first congress of the countries of West Asia and North Africa (WANA) was organized by Royan Institute on June 8-9, 2022 at Arghavan International Hotel in Mashhad. WANA Congress hosted national and international experts to hold numerous virtual and in-person lectures about "important issues and challenges of reproduction and infertility treatment". 15 international guests at WANA Congress from Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Libya, Pakistan, Oman and Qatar along with 20 national specialists in gynaecology, andrology, imaging, genetics and embryology, debated on new reproductive medicine issues. WANA Scientific Society was established at the congress closing ceremony aiming to help the scientific strengthening of this strategic region’s countries, with a rich cultural and historical background as the cradle of the Islamic world. In this scientific event, Professor Hossein Baharvand; the father of Iran's stem cell science, and Professor Mohammad Hossein Nasr-Esfahani; who cloned a sheep for the first time in Iran, gave speeches to enthusiasts in two separate sessions. In collaboration with the Iran Ministry of Education, these two programs were publicized for teachers across the country. The sincere appreciation goes to all cooperators and collaborators of this event who were actively engaged and without their help, this event would not have been a success. Royan Stem Cell Technology Company and Royan Behrad Medical Company were the two main financial sponsors of this scientific event.
